Marcus L. Vickers, Esq.,
Chief Financial Officer
As an Atlanta native, Marcus Vickers ranked among the nations
most talented junior tennis players. While attending Banneker
High School in College Park, Vickers lost only five singles matches
for the Trojans. He was selected the first seed in his region’s
post-season finals during his final two seasons of high school
competition (‘89, ’90).
Riding a successful high school and junior tennis career, Vickers
enrolled at Florida A&M University (FAMU) with a full tuition
tennis scholarship. Upon receiving his bachelor’s degree
in criminology from FAMU, he also helped champion four Division-I
collegiate tennis titles along the way. Adding to his accolades
as a competitor, Vickers was named the youngest Assistant Director
of tennis operations by the city of Tallahassee, and during the
same period, coached FAMU’s men’s team to its fifth
straight conference title. In recognition of his service to the
college tennis community, FAMU has honored Vickers twice with
nominations for the Rolex Achievement Award.
After graduating from FAMU, Vickers was accepted into the Pepperdine
School of Law and the Pepperdine Graduate School of Business where
he earned both a Juris Doctorate (Law) and a Master of Business
Administration (MBA). As a law student, Vickers was elected President
of the Student Bar Association (SBA) and became the first African-American
student to hold such a prestigious office. Under Vickers the SBA
pioneered the law school’s first childcare listing program
and brought a Street Law program, a practical law course taught
to high school students by law students working with social science
teachers, to its final stages.
Vickers was given a Dean’s Award and a Silver Key award
as recognition nationally for his outstanding work as a law student
from the American Bar Association’s Law Student Division
(Ninth Circuit). A Silver Key award is the highest national honor
awarded in each circuit. Through Pepperdine’s Graziadio
School of Business and Management Mentor Program, Vickers established
relationship with Johnnie Cochran, nationally renowned attorney,
and Norman Nixon, former pro basketball star and president of
Nixon and Associates, where Vickers has worked as a sports agent.
As an agent, Vickers has represented a number of professional
tennis players including Steve Campbell (former ATP Men’s
Tour top 100) and Mashona Washington (former WTA Tour top 50).
The grind towards success has not been an easy one nor has it
stopped for Vickers since moving back to Georgia in 1999. After
passing Georgia’s bar examination, Vickers immediately opened
his own practice, Vickers & Associates, LLC specializing in
sports, entertainment and real-estate law.
When he’s not at his law office or on the tennis court,
Vickers loves reading and doing homework with his daughters Myia
and Madison and spending quality time with his wife, Felice.
